Birth and cultural origin of the Company

The formation of Xu's Carpets comes from the discovery and recognition of Mr. Xu Caichun, General Manager of Xu's Company in an accidental working opportunity.
I. Working experience
In April 1990, Mr. Xu Caichun was just a jobless young man of 20 years old. In order for employment, he was introduced by a friend to a private company that was engaged in Chinese antique carpets business. In his first day at work, he saw numerous pieces of dirty and ragged carpets. At that time, he didn't have any good feeling toward these carpets. But many foreigners came to buy carpets. Out of curiosity, he stayed here to work. That day, his work was to clean these dirty carpets. After the cleaning work, he was astonished to find that after cleaning, the colors of these carpets were extremely beautiful and the patterns were very vivid and splendid. After that, Mr. Xu began to accept and love his job. Two days later, after dried up, the cleaned carpets were taken to the workshop for repair. After color and thread match-up and pattern verification, workers would carry out manual repair to these carpets. Several days later, the appearance of those originally dirty and ragged carpets had totally changed. And they were now very beautiful like works of art. And this was the first time that Mr. Xu began to appreciate Chinese antique carpets. And from then on, he spent all his noon break time in the workshop to study carpet repair techniques. Twenty days later, he had not only learned how to repair carpets, but also grasped color-matching and dyeing techniques, which, at that time, was regarded as a miracle as a long time would be required for one to learn all these color-matching and dyeing techniques in addition that all these carpets had been taken back from various regions such as Inner Mongolia, Sinkiang, Gansu, Ningxia, Tibet, Qinghai and Beijing and so on, and weaving methods used in carpets from different regions were also different, for which, different repair methods were required. The command of these repair techniques would require long time's training and hard work. But Mr. Xu accomplished it.

II. Selecting a career of his own
In April of the same year, Mr. Xu could no longer go to work out of some reasons. Then he cooperated with his friends and opened a small restaurant, which was soon closed down due to bad business. Right now, he came to the end of his rope and didn't have a penny for any investment. At that time all his property at home was just one deep freezer and one black-white TV set. But he longed for a career in the carpet industry. After several days of market survey, he found that this kind of business still existed in some curios shops. Therefore, he sold his all his property at home and began to search for antique carpets with the 480 RMB he got by selling his property. Several days later, he finally found a merchant from Beijing that was selling antique carpets. According to knowledge he learned in the past, he selected three pieces of small chair pad carpets, which he bought with all his 480 RMB after price haggling. These carpets didn't need any repair and after cleaning and tidying up, he went to the market and sold them for 500 RMB. In this way, through purchasing and selling, he gained 300 RMB in a month. This pleasant experience laid a solid foundation for his future development. On Sept. 1, he registered his own company, Xianglong Carpet Repair Company. And to satisfy the requirements for work, he also began to study English in his spare time and can speak English fluently right now.

III. Walking out the valley
Ever sine the foundation of his small company on Sept. 1, 1990, the business went very well. But by the end of 1991, his company could no longer survive due to market reasons and it could not pay the workers and went bankrupt. Now he had only 3000 RMB with him. And for the profession that he loved, he took 2800 RMB to Inner Mongolia, where he ate cold baked wheaten cake to save money to seek for antique carpets. And he had been cheated by local people. But finally, his endeavor was paid back and he found his goods. He spent all his money in buying antique carpets except a little for his travel expenses, which he sold after he went back in Beijing in wholesale price to his fellow traders. Then he took his money and went to Inner Mongolia again. One year later, he was amazed to find that he had made tens of thousands Yuan of RMB. In 1993, carpet market went down again and almost no one bought carpets any more. Then he adventured and went to Shanghai by himself where he experienced hardship and difficulties, but he finally managed to get acquainted with some foreign guests living in hotels. After that, he cooperated with a Taiwan company and had achieved great success and career development in Shanghai. By now, Mr. Xu had become a millionaire. In spring 1995, he came back in Beijing and registered his own company, Beijing Xu's Carpets Trading Company
